How about we step back in time to uncover a tale of unity and faith right here at Heretaunga Christian Centre? This story spans over a century. It’s a testament to the enduring power of community.

Heretaunga Christian Centre’s story begins in the 1890s. People gathered after meetings led by an international evangelist. They formed a group. A few years later, they built the Upper Hutt Gospel Hall. The church grew in the early 1900s. They worshipped and learned together.

The church later moved closer to town. But challenges arose. In 1958, doctrinal and personality issues caused a split. This led to the creation of Heretaunga Chapel. Meanwhile, a fire damaged the Gospel Hall. The church relocated again. Throughout the 1900s, both churches operated separately. They achieved many good things in Christ’s name.

Now for the special part of the story. In 2000, elders from both churches had a great vision. They reconciled and reunited after 42 years apart. Both church buildings were sold. A warehouse was purchased and renovated. It became the Heretaunga Christian Centre. The community recognized the value of church unity. They were thankful for the restoration.

Heretaunga Christian Centre stands as a symbol of reconciliation. It represents the strength found in togetherness. The church actively serves its local community. Everyone is welcome at Heretaunga Christian Centre. Sunday services are held at 10 am. The service is also live-streamed on YouTube.

The church prioritizes the safety and wellbeing of children. They require a six-month waiting period before anyone can serve in children’s ministry. All adults aged 17 and older undergo police vetting every three years.

Heretaunga Christian Centre is led by several elders. They include Miles Davison and Paul and Leanne Wickham. Other leaders are Steve and Suzanne Thom, Phil and Amanda Read, Chris and Lynette Bailey plus Hape and Cyndy Hauwaho. The staff includes Miles Davison as Lead Pastor. Steve Shirley leads Operations and Sunday Service. Erin Hurren is the Church Administrator and Pastoral Care Leader.

The Heretaunga Christian Centre is more than just a building. It is a living testament to faith, unity, and service. The present leadership believes God will guide them into the future. They invite you to join them. Live for Jesus and share His love.
