Council rangers discovered a shocking scene at H.D. Robb Reserve. Vandals had attacked this beautiful sanctuary. H.D. Robb Reserve is a special place in Willoughby. It boasts diverse plant life and provides a crucial habitat for threatened fauna. It’s a vital corridor to larger bushlands like Ku-ring-gai National Park. This connection has allowed species like swamp wallabies and lyrebirds to return to the area. The vandals targeted mature trees, some over 80 years old. They poisoned Angophora costatas with girths exceeding 3 meters. They hacked Christmas bushes, Old Man Banksias, Blueberry ashes, She Oaks, Cheese Trees, and Tea trees. The devastation at H.D. Robb Reserve is heartbreaking. It will take decades for the bush to fully recover. This act of vandalism robbed the community of a place of natural beauty. The Willoughby City Council is investigating this outrage. They are offering a reward of up to $10,000 for information leading to a successful prosecution. H.D. Robb Reserve needs our help.
