Gymnázium Postupická wasn’t always a gymnasium. This building was once part of the Základní škola Choceradská. The elementary school opened its doors in 1967. It served the children of the newly built Spořilov estate.
Fast forward to 1983. A new gymnasium was established within one of the school’s buildings. Gymnázium Postupická was born. Its purpose was to provide secondary education. It primarily served students from the Jižní Město area.
In 1994 Gymnázium Postupická expanded its offerings. A six-year general study program was introduced. Then between 2003 and 2010 the school added a special focus. Each year one class in the four-year program emphasized physical education. This focused on floorball.
Today Gymnázium Postupická has around 600 students. They are spread across 20 classes. The school provides a general gymnasium education. In their final two years students choose from a range of seminars. These seminars cater to their individual interests and future study plans.
