Gutshaus Klein Kordshagen

Can you imagine a place that was once a bustling hub, a vital link between Stralsund and Barth, but now stands peacefully amidst rolling hills? Right here, in Klein Kordshagen, you can find Gutshaus Klein Kordshagen, a grand manor house built in 1878. The Gutshaus was once the residence of the royal domain leaseholders, a testament to the rich history of the region. The building itself is a beautiful example of the Gründerzeit style, with its characteristic red brick facade and ornate detailing. In the 19th century, the former narrow-gauge railway line between Stralsund and Barth had one of its most important stations here. In the 20th century, the Gutshaus was used as a refugee shelter, a library, a community hall, a doctor’s office, and housing for families. The building saw a lot in those days. Fortunately, the Lüth family acquired Gutshaus Klein Kordshagen in 2003 and has been lovingly restoring it ever since. They have painstakingly removed many “additions” and brought the building back to its former glory. Today, the Gutshaus is a testament to the resilience and enduring charm of the region. You can still see the remnants of the Kleinbahn, the narrow-gauge railway and feel the history of this place as you stroll its grounds. In a small village outside of Stralsund, stands this remarkable manor house, a tangible link to the past, and a reminder of the rich tapestry woven by time.
