Can you smell the tantalizing aroma of sizzling sausages and grilling vegetables? We’re at Grillplatz 11, a popular spot on the Donauinsel for a barbecue. Grillplatz 11 is one of 15 designated charcoal grilling spots on the Donauinsel. These require a reservation and a small fee. But you get a dedicated grill and the joy of knowing you have a spot secured. While spontaneous grilling is always an option at the free grilling zones, having a pre-booked Grillplatz on Donauinsel offers a different kind of experience. Especially if you’re with a larger group. Grillplatz 11 is conveniently located near the Donaustadtbrücke, on the right bank of the Neue Donau. You’ll find drinking water, restrooms, and a first aid station close by, adding to the convenience. Like other Grillplätze on Donauinsel, Grillplatz 11 is open year-round. This makes it a perfect spot for a barbecue no matter the season. Remember though, only charcoal, wood briquettes, and dry, brought-from-home wood are allowed for grilling here. So leave the gas grill and any firewood gathered from the surrounding area behind. And when you’re finished, please clean up after yourselves, leaving Grillplatz 11 ready for the next group to enjoy. Now, gather your friends, fire up the grill, and create some lasting memories at Grillplatz 11 on Donauinsel.
