Here stands Graceview Presbyterian Church a testament to faith. Graceview Presbyterian Church’s story began in 2000. It formed from the union of Grace and Hillview Presbyterian Churches. These churches were neighbors in Toronto’s west end.

Both original churches started in 1955. Toronto’s west side was booming then. Surveys showed enough people for two new Presbyterian churches. Early services happened in homes and schools. Later, funds built permanent churches.

Hillview finished its Christian Education Centre in September 1958. The sanctuary followed in 1969. Grace erected its church building in 1961. Both churches served their communities for decades.

By the 1990s, congregations were shrinking. Financial needs became hard to meet. Grace and Hillview considered their options. They decided to join together as Graceview Presbyterian Church.

Grace’s building was chosen for the new church. Hillview’s facilities were larger. However, Grace’s location on a main street and better condition made it ideal. It also offered a bigger parking lot.

The first service of the newly named Graceview Presbyterian Church took place on April 2 2000. It was a service of thanksgiving. It was filled with hope for the future. The dedication of the members helped make the union work. The leadership of Graceview Presbyterian Church’s first minister was inspirational.

Today Graceview Presbyterian Church serves more than just the legacy congregations. Many new people have joined since the start of Graceview Presbyterian Church.

Reverend Eric Lee leads Graceview Presbyterian Church. He was born and raised in Hong Kong. He speaks English, Cantonese, Mandarin, and Japanese. He also knows some Hebrew and Greek. Eric enjoys the outdoors, animals, and marathon running.

Boris Treivus is the Music Director. Boris was born in St. Petersburg. He plays piano, organ, and accordion. Halyna Parypa serves as the Church Secretary. She has worked in many industries. She speaks English and Ukrainian.
