Founded in 1967 Grace Assembly Church stands as a testament to enduring faith. Elder Joseph Garlington established this vibrant community. Initially services were held in a Northwest Washington D C Odd Fellows Lodge. In 1968 Grace Assembly joined the Pentecostal Assemblies of the World. Elder Clem Humphrey became pastor a year later.

Grace Assembly Church’s story is one of growth and adaptation. Earnest L Pendleton was elected pastor in 1986. Under his leadership the church moved to a new sanctuary in 2007. This impressive building houses over 12 classrooms in its Education Center. It can accommodate up to 650 people. Bishop Pendleton who was inducted into the P A W bishopric in 2013 served diligently. He retired as head of the Del Md D C District Council in 2023.

The church’s commitment to its members is evident. During the 2020 coronavirus pandemic Grace Assembly quickly responded. They prioritized members’ safety. They also created a virtual space for prayer and worship using Zoom Facebook Live and Livestream. This demonstrates their dedication to community and their innovative approach to ministry.

Grace Assembly Church’s beliefs are firmly rooted in the Bible. They believe in the Trinity the deity of Jesus Christ and the importance of being born again. They emphasize water baptism in Jesus’ name and the baptism of the Holy Spirit. The church upholds the Apostolic Doctrine found in the New Testament. They believe these are the last days and look forward to the rapture and the return of Jesus Christ.
