Four souls. A small apartment. That’s where the Gospel Faith Mission International’s Washington DC branch began in 1984. Pastor Peter Akinsanya hosted the first service. He was joined by Pastor Francis Aremo Pastor Michael Masade and Deaconess Olamiju Aremo.

Gospel Faith Mission International a Pentecostal ministry with global roots. It started humbly in Nigeria in 1956. Founded by Pastor Reuben Akinwalere George it grew from a small Bible study group. His successor Pastor Elijah Oludele Abina continues to lead the church. He oversaw its expansion to numerous countries including the US.

The Washington DC congregation wasn’t just a small group forever. The Gospel Faith Mission International’s presence expanded rapidly. It moved from various locations in Washington DC. Finally it settled in Brentwood Maryland in 1992. Today the church boasts several branches across the United States. It even extended to Canada the Dominican Republic Mexico and Jamaica.
