Did the name “Good Shepherd” ring a bell? Here at the Good Shepherd Parish, it’s more than just a name. It’s a testament to a community’s faith, built on the slopes of Mont Fleuri. Good Shepherd Parish wasn’t always here. In 1964, the Diocese saw a growing community in Mont Fleuri. With new homes and schools popping up, a spiritual center was needed. Thus, the Good Shepherd Parish was born. The church itself is a testament to Seychellois craftsmanship. Brother Cyrille and his team dedicated their skills to its construction. The church was consecrated on August 15, 1964, by Father Angelin. Fifty years later, the church underwent renovations, a freshening up for its golden jubilee. Look to the side of the Good Shepherd Parish. You’ll see a statue, a silent guardian of this sacred place. This statue, blessed in 1991 by Father Fitzgerald, is a generous gift from the Meghjee family. Good Shepherd Parish is more than just bricks and mortar. It’s a symbol of growth, resilience, and the unwavering faith of the Mont Fleuri community. It represents the enduring strength of the human spirit and the power of community.
