Was it courage or desperation that propelled these men across the Atlantic? Here at the Głaz Pamięci gen. J. Hallera Stone, we remember the Polish Blue Army. This unassuming monument stands as a testament to the thousands of Polish-Americans and Polish-Canadians who crossed the ocean to fight for a homeland they had never known. The Głaz Pamięci gen. J. Hallera Stone, more commonly known as the Monument to the Military Endeavor of Polish Americans, captures their journey in bronze. Three figures, seemingly emerging from a wave, charge into battle. The inscription below,”Dla ojczyzny ratownia, rzucim się przez morze” translates to “To save our homeland, we shall attack from across the sea.” These words, echoing the Polish national anthem, reflect their burning desire for a free and independent Poland. Unveiled in 1998, the monument stands as a powerful symbol of Polish-American patriotism and sacrifice.
