Gate 17 offers more than just access to classrooms. It is your entry point to the Electrical Engineering-Classrooms. These classrooms are housed in the Wolfson Building. This building stands proudly on the southeast corner of the TAU campus. It is also the closest building to the Tel Aviv University train station.
Tel Aviv University’s School of Electrical and Computer Engineering is the biggest in Israel. More than 50 faculty members work here. It has over 1000 undergraduate students and over 600 graduate students. About 150 of them are Ph.D students.
The School of Electrical Engineering is in the Wolfson EE and Computer Engineering buildings. They are easily reached from Gates 4 and 14 with a pre-arranged permit. You can find paid public parking on Dr. George Wise Street.
The seminars take place at 011 hall in the Wolfson Building. This is the place to be on Mondays from 3 to 4 pm. This is when the EE-Systems Colloquium takes place.
The School’s mission is clear. They want to train Israeli students to lead the high-tech revolution. They also aim to advance scientific research. This research drives that revolution.
Research areas include micro and nano-technologies. You’ll also find optical communication systems, electromagnetic systems, and communication technology. Other areas are systems and information theory, signal and image processing. Do not forget computer systems, networking, control systems, power systems, and plasma science.
Tel Aviv University’s origins trace back to 1956. Three research institutes joined forces to form the university. The Tel Aviv School of Law and Economics, the Institute of Natural Sciences, and the Academic Institute of Jewish Studies merged.
Initially, the Tel Aviv municipality ran the university. In 1963, it gained autonomy. George S. Wise became its first president. The Ramat Aviv campus was established that same year. It covers 170 acres.
