In 1911, ownership shifted to the City of Sydney. The building then took on a less glamorous role, serving as public toilets until the mid-1980s. Thankfully, its story didn’t end there. A loving restoration in 2012 breathed new life into Gardener’s Lodge. It emerged as a unique cafe, a testament to its enduring charm. Today, within its historic sandstone walls, you can savor delicious plant-based cuisine. The heritage-listed building offers a unique dining experience.
