What started as a small gathering has blossomed into a diverse and vibrant community. This is the story of Gaithersburg Chinese Alliance Church. On October 6, 1985, David, Nancy, Melodie and Jordan Wong sowed the first seeds of this church. They began at the Casey Community Center also known as Casey Barns.

Initially, Sunday messages were delivered in English. These messages were then translated into Mandarin Chinese. Within two years, the church experienced significant growth. It was able to purchase its current property at 13101 Darnestown Road.

Over the years, Gaithersburg Chinese Alliance Church has flourished. It now boasts a multilingual community. The church expanded its services to include three worship services in different languages. These languages are English, Mandarin Chinese and Cantonese.

Gaithersburg International Christian Fellowship is a ministry of Gaithersburg Chinese Alliance Church. In 2019, Gaithersburg and Germantown were recognized for their diversity. WalletHub identified them as top diverse small cities in the United States. The city scored high in socioeconomic factors and cultural and economic diversity.
