Imagine businessman Frank Denison standing right where you are now envisioning his future home. This is the Frank Denison House Plaque. It marks a building with a fascinating story.

The Frank Denison House was built in 1910. At that time the Casa Loma area was becoming a popular place to live. Denison wanted a home that reflected this.

He hired Wickson & Gregg. This Toronto architecture firm was known for its notable designs. They created the Frank Denison House in the Period Revival style. This style took inspiration from classical architecture. It also borrowed from English medieval designs. The Arts and Crafts movement influenced it too.

Frank Denison’s house later became home to Charles Neilson. Neilson inherited the William Neilson Co. This company was one of the largest ice cream and chocolate makers in the British Empire. Neilson lived here from 1921 until he died in 1958.

The Frank Denison House has changed over time. In 2013 it was designated under the Ontario Heritage Act. In 2015 the house was restored. It was also remodeled into a contemporary home.

The Frank Denison House Plaque reminds us of the people who lived here. It also highlights the architectural styles that shaped Toronto. Take a moment to appreciate this blend of history and modern living. It is a landmark designated under the Ontario Heritage Act. Heritage Toronto recognized it in 2018.
