From a simple dream, the Fu00f6rster-Schreibweis-Kanzel was born. This isn’t just any wildlife observation tower. It’s a testament to community spirit and a labor of love. The Fu00f6rster-Schreibweis-Kanzel stands proudly in the Du00fcnnwald forest near Cologne. It’s a two-story timber-framed structure, offering a unique vantage point to observe the local wildlife. The tower was the brainchild of Jonas Schreibweis, the local Revierfu00f6rster for the past six years. He also serves as a board member of the “Fu00f6rderverein Du00fcnnwalder Wald und Wildpark e.V.”. Schreibweis envisioned a place where people could observe animals without the barrier of a fence. He rallied volunteers, including scouts and underprivileged youth, to bring his dream to life. For three years, they dedicated their time and skills, crafting this rustic lookout. The result is a beautiful example of craftsmanship. The Fu00f6rster-Schreibweis-Kanzel features wrought-iron grilles and a green roof. A stag’s antlers adorn the front, adding a touch of woodland charm. The Fu00f6rster-Schreibweis-Kanzel was officially inaugurated on a bright Easter Sunday with a special ceremony. Numerous guests gathered at the wildlife park, witnessing the blessing of the new observation platform. Pfarrer Pater Ralf Winterberg led the ceremony, praising the “house of finest craftsmanship” as he sprinkled holy water on the structure, including the stag antlers. The opening of the Fu00f6rster-Schreibweis-Kanzel marked the realization of a long-held dream for Schreibweis. He had championed the project, wanting to provide a unique space for observing the park’s inhabitants. This special observation point lets visitors connect with nature in a unique and intimate way.
