Thirty-three acres of pure fun. That’s the Florida State Fairgrounds. Can you believe it?

The Florida State Fairgrounds isn’t just a place for two weeks of February fun. It’s a year-round hub of activity. Established in 1904 it started small. The first fair was held downtown Tampa. It was a modest beginning at Henry B Plant’s Tampa Bay Hotel.

The fairgrounds grew. By 1915 it merged with Tampa’s Gasparilla Carnival. The Florida State Fair became a massive celebration. People came from all corners of Florida to enjoy the festivities. They ate competed and celebrated everything Florida. Imagine the smells the sounds the energy.

The popularity of the fair led to the creation of the Florida State Fair Authority in 1975. This marked the fair’s move to its current location. This is the impressive 330-acre complex we see today. It is conveniently located near I-4 I-75 and Highway 301.

Today the Florida State Fairgrounds is a sprawling complex. It hosts a multitude of events. From trade shows and conventions to weddings and equestrian events. There’s something for everyone here. The Expo Hall is enormous. It boasts 88,000 square feet of space. This can expand to 140,000 square feet when combined with the Entertainment Hall. The Bob Thomas Equestrian Center is another impressive venue. It features a 3000-seat indoor arena and multiple show rings. It’s perfect for horse lovers.

The grounds are equipped with ample parking. There are over 16000 lighted spaces. There’s even over 200 camping spaces with full hookups for those who want to stay longer. There are multiple amenities to support such a large space. There are multiple concession stands and restrooms to make sure the experience is comfortable for all.

The Florida State Fairgrounds is much more than just a fair. It is a vibrant part of Tampa’s history and culture. It brings people together to celebrate Florida’s unique character and charm. More than 1.5 million visitors come here annually. They come to enjoy the many attractions and to create memories that last a lifetime.
