“Extravagantly welcoming, radically inclusive, evangelically courageous.” That is the motto of First United Church UCC. Founded in 1885 as First Congregational Church of Tampa, it stood as a beacon of progress. Tampa had fewer than 4,000 residents then.

First United Church of Tampa has a history of leading social justice efforts. This continues today. In 2002, First United Church of Tampa merged with United Community Church of North Tampa. This formed a new and united church.

Are you seeking a progressive Christian environment near USF? First United Church of Tampa is conveniently located. It welcomes students seeking spiritual growth. The church’s Children’s Church programs inspire young people. They are challenged to be forward-thinking in their spirituality.

First United Church UCC supports marriage equality for all couples. It welcomes lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender people. They are included in the full life and leadership of the church.

First United Church of Tampa believes in creating positive change. It actively works for social justice. This extends from Tampa Bay to the world. The church is open-minded and welcoming. It attracts members from diverse communities. These include Tampa, USF, and Temple Terrace. It also draws people from Lutz, Zephyrhills, and Land O’ Lakes. Wesley Chapel and beyond are included.

First United Church of Tampa holds hybrid services. You can attend in person or online. In-person services are at 4811 Ehrlich Rd. This is in the Administration Building of the Bible-based Fellowship Church Campus. English services are on Sunday mornings at 11:00 am. Spanish services are every 1st and 3rd Sunday at 12:30 pm in person. Online Spanish services are every Sunday at 12:30 pm.

First United Church of Tampa is an “Open and Affirming” church. It welcomes all people regardless of sexual orientation or gender identity. It is a “Peace with Justice” church. First United Church has worked for peace since 1885. The church endorsed the Earth Charter. It is guided by its principles for taking care of our planet. The church is multiracial and multicultural. It welcomes people of all races and cultures.
