First Alliance Church started in the 1930s. It was originally within Washington’s city limits. In the 70s it moved to Silver Spring. It continues as a welcoming place for all.
First Alliance Church is part of the Christian and Missionary Alliance. This is a worldwide movement. It emphasizes “all of Jesus for all the world.”
What does First Alliance Church believe? They believe Jesus is God’s son. The Bible is our guide. God loves all people. He calls us to spread hope.
The church envisions breaking down walls. They want to spread God’s love. They are practicing for heaven. They do this while living on earth.
The church expresses its calling with a statement of hope. “We will change our world by helping people know God, love life and serve others.” That is their mission.
First Alliance Church is a very diverse church. People come from all parts of the world. They come from all walks of life. The church represents different races. They also represent different language groups. They come from many countries.
Pastors Mike Mercurio and Allen Grimes lead the church staff. Elected elders and other godly servants govern the Leadership Team.
The First Alliance Church believes in the Triune God of Grace. God exists in three Persons. These are God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit.
Jesus Christ is central to everything. He is fully God and fully human. Jesus is the only one who can reconcile us to God. He lived a sinless life. He died on the cross for us. He rose again to prove His victory. He empowers us for life. Jesus is coming back again.
The Bible is God’s Spirit-inspired word. It has authority over every part of our lives. It is one unified story. It points to Jesus. It reveals who God is. It reveals who we are. It unfolds the good news about Jesus. It speaks of his redemptive work.
The Church is the spirit-empowered community of Jesus. God gives the Church various gifts. We can be faithfully engaged. We can be fully devoted disciples of Jesus.
