Fatec is part of the Faculdade de Tecnologia do Estado de São Paulo. It is a well-regarded state university. It provides undergraduate and graduate courses. The courses cover industrial innovation and technology areas. Centro Paula Souza maintains the university. They also oversee ETECs. They support other educational development initiatives.
The Tatuapé unit occupies a revitalized building. It was once an abandoned structure. Geraldo Alckmin, then Secretary of Economic Development, inaugurated it. The transformation was completed in July 2011. In August, Fatec Tatuapé Victor Civita welcomed its first students. They enrolled in the pioneering courses of Building Construction and Construction Management. The unit offers 320 semester openings. Its infrastructure can accommodate up to 2,000 students.

The building was originally intended for the Delegacia Seccional de Fiscalização Tributária. This is the Regional Tax Audit Department. Benno Perelmutter’s architecture firm designed it. The design ensured ample space for public service. Bureaucratic issues halted construction the following year.
Small changes were made when the project was restarted. These changes primarily addressed fire safety standards.

Victor Civita, the school’s namesake, founded Grupo Abril. Born in New York in 1907, he came to Brazil. In 1950, he established Editora Abril. Civita launched the magazine O Pato Donald in 1957. From 1985 until his death in 1990, he led the Fundação Victor Civita. His actions aimed to stimulate education in Brazil.
Fatec Tatuapé Victor Civita offers several degree programs. These include Building Construction. It also has Construction Management. There is also Product Design with a focus on Production Processes and Industrialization. Also available are Business Management and Land Transportation.
Consider the numbers. In 2022, Building Construction had 151 applicants for 40 slots. Control of Works saw 52 applicants for 40 spots. Product Design had 49 applicants for 40 places. Land Transport attracted 91 applicants for 40 openings.
