The school has been serving the community since then. It aims to provide excellent education. It also wants to serve society. The school wants to witness to Christ.

Let’s delve into the story of Fanling Lutheran Secondary School. In 1958, the Fanling Lutheran Church rented land. The land was near the Fanling Railway Station. It established Fanling Lutheran School there. This offered education to children from poor families. It also helped those whose parents were unemployed.

In 1959, the church purchased Ellis Garden. This became the new site for the school. In 1964, the permanent school buildings were completed. The school was renamed Fanling Lutheran Secondary School. The original rented site was returned in 1968.

The government introduced nine years of free education in 1978. Public school places were insufficient. The government bought places in private schools. Fanling Lutheran Secondary School became a government-aided school.

In 1997, the school applied to join the Direct Subsidy Scheme. It gained approval. In September of the following year it became a direct-funded school. It was the first in the New Territories.

Fanling Lutheran Secondary School completed expansion works in 2011. A new five-story building was added. It included a large hall.

The campus spans 17000 square meters. It features many facilities. There is a seedling garden and a green roof. There is also a geography room. Five science labs are available. The school has a wireless network and a TV station. Every classroom has air conditioning. They also have interactive whiteboards.

The school hall is like a theater. It can accommodate 1200 people. The stage covers 200 square meters. It is suitable for concerts and drama. The new hall includes indoor basketball, volleyball, and badminton courts. The expansion added an open plaza. There is also a covered playground.

Fanling Lutheran Secondary School has four multi-purpose courts. These support various sports. There are handball and mini-football. Students can play volleyball, basketball, badminton, and netball. The original 200-meter track connected to a new 400-meter track. This provides a 600-meter running track.

The Lutheran Church Hong Kong China also runs the Glory Church. It is on the school grounds. It provides students with a chaplaincy and church facilities.

Many notable alumni have attended Fanling Lutheran Secondary School. These include Frankie Chan. He is a political and cultural commentator. There is Nelson Wong. He is a太平紳士 or Justice of the Peace. Cathy Chiu is the founder of Hai Tian Tang. Au Chi-Kin is a former Hong Kong rope skipping team coach. And there are many more.
