A story unfolds – a plan to modernize the nearby railway line nr 7 known as the Otwock Line. A new underground passageway was planned, and alas, it was to come at the expense of Falenicka sosna. Yet, as fate would have it, the people of Warsaw had other plans. Concerned residents, including local politicians, rose up in protest, campaigning to save this iconic tree. Local groups, including the “Razem Dla Wawra” and the “Miasto Jest Nasze” rallied together. The authorities were nudged toward a crucial step – recognizing the tree as a “Pomnik przyrody” or natural monument. It seems the Falenicka sosna, despite its youthful years, had already secured a place in the hearts of the community. In 2020, it even participated in the prestigious “Drzewo Roku” competition. In a captivating display of resilience, Falenicka sosna emerged as the runner-up, a testament to its unique charm. Falenicka sosna stands proud, a majestic symbol of nature’s enduring spirit in the face of urban encroachment. Its branches reach out like welcoming arms toward those who travel through this dynamic city. This iconic pine, a powerful reminder of the beauty of nature, has become a beloved landmark for locals and tourists alike.
