Atop a former chicken coop, faith took flight. Fairfax Community Church, nestled near our nation’s capital, boasts a history as humble as its beginnings. In 1929, a preacher named Harvey Edge ignited a spark of faith in Fairfax County. A small group, yearning for Christian unity, answered his call. Fairfax Community Church emerged from modest means, holding its first services in a converted chicken coop. These early members, hailing from diverse denominations, shared a common desire: to follow Christ, guided solely by the Bible. They believed in the unifying power of the Holy Spirit, bridging denominational divides. For fifty years, this small flock persevered, their faith unwavering. Then, in the late 1980s, Fairfax Community Church underwent a transformation, seeking to connect with a new generation. Strategic changes propelled remarkable growth. Attendance soared from a hundred to over two thousand five hundred each week. In 2014, the church’s reach extended to Clarksburg, Maryland. A merger with a smaller congregation, also founded by Harvey Edge eighty-five years prior, created Clarksburg Church. This reunion, a testament to their shared history, solidified their commitment to spreading the Gospel. Today, Fairfax Community Church, with its two campuses, continues its mission to “Gather the people. Tell the stories.
