Twenty-two years ago a dream took root. This is the Faculdade de Tecnologia da Zona Leste. It wasn’t built overnight. The land was initially slated for a prison. Imagine that. Instead this remarkable institution rose. It became a beacon of opportunity in São Paulo’s Zona Leste.
The Faculdade de Tecnologia da Zona Leste opened its doors in April 2002. It was initially part of the Centro Tecnolu00f3gico da Zona Leste. This shared space included the Escola Tu00e9cnica Estadual da Zona Leste. The goal was ambitious. The aim was to foster a seamless transition between technical education and higher learning.
The initial offerings at the Faculdade de Tecnologia da Zona Leste were Logistics with an emphasis on Transportation. There was also Informatics focused on Business Management. Production with a Plastics emphasis was another early course. These courses evolved over time reflecting changes in the job market. The curriculum was updated in 2009 and 2010. The name of the Logistics course changed. The Plastics Production course became Polymers. Informatics for Business Management was replaced. It was replaced with Analysis and Systems Development. In 2010 a course in Foreign Trade was added.
By 2012 a new building was completed. The Faculdade de Tecnologia da Zona Leste finally had its own dedicated space. A significant investment of R$10.8 million was made for construction. A further R$1.9 million was invested in furniture and equipment. This marked a new chapter for the institution. This new building reflects growth and success. The school also expanded its curriculum. In 2013 a Business Management course was launched.
The success of the Faculdade de Tecnologia da Zona Leste is undeniable. The high demand for its programs is evident in the high competition. The Analysis and Development of Systems program had the highest number of applicants per position in 2013. The Logistics program was also very popular. This success led to the creation of other similar institutions. The Faculdade de Tecnologia da Zona Sul followed. It was inaugurated in March 2006.
