Amidst the vibrant energy of São Paulo, Faculdade Anhanguera stands as a testament to the pursuit of knowledge. Faculdade Anhanguera, part of the Anhanguera Educacional system, is a bustling hub of learning. This institution has a fascinating history, intertwined with the growth and evolution of education in Brazil. Faculdade Anhanguera’s story begins with its predecessor, Universidade Bandeirante de São Paulo (UNIBAN). UNIBAN traces its roots back to 1903 with the establishment of Colégio Buenos Aires by Pedro Pinto in the Santana district. His son and grandson, Heitor Pinto e Silva and Heitor Pinto Filho, respectively, played key roles in expanding the institution’s reach. The evolution from a college to a university involved several mergers and transformations. In 1982, Pinto Filho joined the Paulista School of Arts, founded in 1956. The institution expanded further with the addition of the Moema school of Arts and Sciences, Our Lady of Medianeira school of Philosophy, and the Dom Domênico school. These institutions eventually unified in 1988, forming the Bandeirante Unified Teaching Center (CEUB). Finally, in 1994, CEUB was officially recognized as Universidade Bandeirante de São Paulo. While Faculdade Anhanguera represents a more recent chapter in this educational journey, its identity is deeply connected to UNIBAN’s legacy. Today, Anhanguera Educacional, the largest for-profit educational company in Brazil, owns and operates Faculdade Anhanguera along with numerous other institutions throughout the country. This vast network provides educational opportunities to a diverse student population. While UNIBAN’s history includes some controversial incidents, it has persevered and continues to be a significant presence in Brazilian education. Faculdade Anhanguera continues this legacy, striving to provide accessible and quality education to its students within the dynamic landscape of São Paulo.
