The most popular starting point is Lantau Toll Link Plaza. Many airport buses stop here. From there, the trail winds its way up. The first part is flat and well-paved. Ting Kau Bridge and Tsing Ma Bridge can be seen. Further on, stairs lead to Tai Chuen, Yi Chuen and Sam Chuen. Tso Wan beach is located here.
At the beach, a sign points toward Disneyland and Fa Peng Teng. A steep climb begins here, with rocky paths leading to Fa Ping Rock. Hikers should be careful as the paths are slippery.
Fa Ping Rock is a source of debate. People argue about what it resembles. Regardless, take photos there. The views are amazing.
After the rock, the trail continues to the trigonometric station. This marks the summit of Fa Peng Teng. The view is spectacular.
The descent involves winding stairs. The trail eventually leads back to Lantau Toll Link Plaza.
The Fa Peng Teng hike is roughly seven kilometers. It takes three to four hours to complete. Remember to bring enough water and food. There are no shops or restrooms along the way.
The Fa Peng trail offers views of three bridges. These are the Kap Shui Mun Bridge, the Tsing Ma Bridge, and the Ting Kau Bridge. On a clear day, all three can be seen.
The Kap Shui Mun Bridge connects Lantau to Ma Wan Island. The Tsing Ma Bridge connects Ma Wan to Tsing Yi. The Ting Kau Bridge connects Tsing Yi to Kowloon.
