Ezras Israel Congregation is a warm community. It consists of about 45 families and singles. This synagogue has a rich history. It is devoted to serving the Jewish community. It promotes Jewish observance. Members include Ashkenazim and Sephardim. They range from traditional to modern. All are welcome here. All feel at home in Ezras Israel.

Rabbi Eliezer Kreiser arrived in 1999. He came from Lakewood to be Ezras Israel’s spiritual leader. Rabbi and Perel Kreiser are known for their hospitality. Newcomers often visit them after Shabbat morning services. Their relaxed manner reflects the easy atmosphere of the community. Shabbat morning services offer opportunities to grow spiritually. You can do so at your own pace.

Ezras Israel is conveniently located. It is near White Flint and Twinbrook Metro. The JCC of Greater Washington is also nearby. Moti’s Kosher Market is another close location.

Ezras Israel engages in many activities. These include High Holiday Services and a Yom Kippur Memorial Book. They also have a community accessible sukkah. The Simchat Torah Dinner and Auction is a highlight. The Annual Chanukkah Dinner and Kids Party is popular. The community also holds a Purim Seuda. They offer a Passover OU Guide for members. Community members can sell their Chametz.

Ezras Israel has many learning opportunities. The Rabbi gives a Shabbat morning parsha shiur. It starts at 8:15 AM every Saturday. There is a Sunday morning Talmud class. It is with Rabbi Kreiser at Ring House. Rabbi Kreiser also holds a weekly Mishnayos Group. He offers seasonal classes as well.

Ezras Israel provides bereavement support. They offer Shiva support and a Kaddish program. Members get a discount on plots at Garden of Remembrance Cemetery.

Ezras Israel also maintains the Rockville-North Bethesda eruv. Rabbi Eliezer Kreiser supervises it. Members check it every other week. The eruv allows religious Jews more freedom on Shabbat. It benefits the local Jewish community.

Ezras Israel holds a daily minyan at Ring House. This is an independent living home in Rockville. Before the pandemic, about five or six residents attended daily. The attendees appreciate the religious experiences. People also say Kaddish for deceased spouses.

Ezras Israel underwent renovations. The building was modernized modestly. The synagogue promotes tolerance. Rabbi Kreiser leads this effort. Members are not judgmental of each other’s observance. The atmosphere is welcoming. Tolerance is something that Ezras Israel excels at.
