Did you know that Extra-Divers in Tobago is part of a large German dive operation? It has another branch in Crown Point. Here at Extra-Divers, prepare to explore some of the Caribbean’s most amazing dive sites.

Tobago offers year-round diving. It caters to both novice and experienced divers. A twin-center holiday, covering both Speyside and Crown Point, is easily arranged. Many Regal Dive guests find this very popular. Though Tobago is only 25 miles long, local geography makes it hard to stay in Crown Point and do regular day dives in Speyside. Day trips might be available. Twin-center stays help you make the most of diving on each side of the island.

Extra-Divers is based at Nabucco’s Resort Speyside Inn. You can walk to the other end of the village in just 10 minutes. Walking to Blue Waters Inn takes 15 minutes. It is a really nice route with beautiful views.

Speyside is at Tobago’s northern end. More than 30 dive sites are just a few minutes away by boat. Extra-Divers offers up to three daily dives. They also offer excursions to sites like St Giles Island. You can also visit London Bridge and the legendary Sisters of Bloody Bay. Full-day trips to the island’s south tip are available. Snorkeling trips and land activities let you experience Caribbean dive sites.

Tobago’s diving has a well-deserved reputation. Expect enormous brain corals and thrilling drift dives. The Guyana current flows along the island’s Atlantic coast. It runs from Speyside to Sandy Point. This current creates some of the Caribbean’s most spectacular drift dives.

The current provides nutrients for many species. You might see barracuda, jacks, tunas, and tarpons. Different types of sharks, rays, including mantas, and turtles also live here. The marine life on the Caribbean coast enjoys cooler water and less current. Sheltered reefs boast hard and soft corals. Colourful sponges and a thriving fish population make diving here rewarding. It suits all experience levels. This coast features Tobago’s finest wreck. The Maverick was intentionally sunk in 1997. It rests at 30 meters.

Many prime dives are fringing reefs. They line the coastline and surround rocks. These rocks are covered in sponge, fan, and coral. The Sisters are a few miles off the Caribbean north coast. Underwater, these rocky outcrops drop to over 40 meters. They attract manta rays and sometimes even scalloped hammerheads.

The Caribbean coast dive sites are not exposed to strong currents. Divers staying near Crown Point can dive on Caribbean coast sites. They can also access the Maverick and a few Atlantic drift dives. Warmer water from the Orinoco River raises water temperatures over the summer. This can reduce visibility but attracts many fish.

The southern Atlantic Ocean offers some current on shallow fringing reefs. Expect many sponges and fan corals. This area is good for novice and intermediate divers. Big stingrays and nurse sharks are often seen here. The Maverick wreck is a popular dive site. It has been resting for over 20 years near Mt Irvine Bay.

Extra Divers at Speyside is an excellent base for exploring these underwater wonders. The dive center is well-organized and run with confidence. Briefings are in-depth and clear. The diving is good and the water is warm.

If you’re looking for an unspoiled part of the Caribbean, Speyside is one of those jewels. Enjoy challenging diving and pristine underwater fauna. Extra Divers is ready to guide you.
