Why is this park in Vienna named after an art historian? We are now in the Eva-und-Otto-Benesch-Park. It’s a lovely green space in Favoriten, the 10th district of Vienna. The park is named after Otto Benesch and his wife Eva. He was a prominent art historian and director of the Albertina. Sadly, he was dismissed from his position by the Nazi regime due to his wife’s heritage. The couple had to flee to the USA. Despite this challenging experience, their legacy lives on in this park. The Eva-und-Otto-Benesch-Park is a wonderful place to relax and enjoy the outdoors. It offers a children’s playground, a sandpit and drinking fountains. Enjoy the peaceful atmosphere and remember the couple who gave the park its name.
