Isn’t it remarkable how a place can embody the spirit of a city? That’s exactly what the Europäische Jugendbildungs- und Jugendbegegnungsstätte Weimar, or EJBW, does. It stands as a testament to Weimar’s rich history and its dedication to fostering understanding among people.

The EJBW is an international institution. It opened its doors in 1999. Since then, it has served as a vital education and meeting center. Children, youths, young adults, and educational professionals come from all over Europe and the world to participate.

Located just a short walk from Weimar’s historic city center, the EJBW is nestled within the charming Musäus Park. This location makes the EJBW an ideal spot for young people from across Germany and Europe to connect. The EJBW is more than just a meeting place. It is where young people live, meet, exchange ideas, and learn together. It provides a unique space for experience and growth.

The EJBW supports young people. It encourages them to become self-confident, open-minded, and engaged individuals. The EJBW motivates them to understand our society. It challenges them to question it critically. It empowers them to shape it into a free, democratic, social, and just system. Knowledge is powerful but action is essential. The EJBW promotes both. It motivates young people to broaden their horizons. It encourages them to try new things. It inspires them to develop visions for themselves and their communities.

The EJBW operates under the guiding principle of strengthening democracy. Its work is driven by the central question: “What strengthens and what endangers democracy?” Democracy is more than a form of government. It is a way of life. The EJBW respects every young person. It values them as free and self-determined individuals. It recognizes their integrity and considers their needs and interests.

Annually, the EJBW hosts around 140 events. These events span approximately 430 days. The educational programs target both young people and adults. These programs address crucial educational and socio-political issues. This makes the EJBW one of Germany’s largest and most significant youth education centers. It is actively involved in numerous national and international networks.

Beyond its educational mission, the EJBW provides attractive accommodation and conference options in Weimar. Groups can stay in one of five garden houses surrounded by greenery. In addition to the historic town villas, modern seminar rooms offer the perfect setting for all types of events. The EJBW is a member of the Arbeitskreis deutscher Bildungsstätten.

The EJBW offers various facilities. These include a stage, a campfire site, and a grill area. It also provides internet access. Professional conference technology is available. There is also pedagogical staff to help. Sports facilities include a beach volleyball court and a table tennis table.

The EJBW is partly accessible. It features two wheelchair-accessible guest rooms. The reception, dining hall, and four seminar rooms are also barrier-free. You will find the Park an der Ilm and the city center a short five-minute walk away. The main train station is just one kilometer away.

The EJBW’s own kitchen offers regional specialties. These dishes are made with fresh, seasonal ingredients. Vegetarian, vegan, and allergy-friendly options are available. The EJBW boasts 162 beds in 59 rooms. These rooms include single, double, and triple rooms. Each has a shower and toilet. Two rooms are designed for guests with disabilities. There are 15 modern seminar rooms and an event hall that can accommodate up to 400 people.
