This is the Esther Sidi Garden in Memory of the University’s Fallen in Israel’s Wars. The garden is dedicated to the memory of Esther Sidi, a beloved teacher who died tragically in a car accident years ago. She was a teacher of physical education, a woman of great spirit who was deeply loved by students and staff. She was a passionate educator, encouraging her students to be active and embrace life. When she passed away, Tel Aviv University decided to memorialize her by creating this green space, a place for people to reflect and remember, to stop and breathe, to think about life and the world around us. A minute of silence is held in the garden every year on the Yom Hazikaron, Israel’s Memorial Day, to honor the fallen.
