Did you know that a German immigrant’s dedication to education led to the establishment of this school? I am talking about Escola Estadual Matilde Maria Cremm. This school stands as a tribute to a remarkable woman. Matilde Maria Cremm was born in Berlin in 1891. She arrived in Brazil in 1900 and settled in Itapecerica da Serra.

The story of Escola Estadual Matilde Maria Cremm begins with Matilde Maria Cremm herself. She married Pedro Pires de Albuquerque Cintra and had five children. Although her life was mainly focused on farming, she deeply valued education. In 1921, she built the first classroom on her property, located on the old BR116 road at Km 294.

Dona Dionízia Mariano was the first teacher at this school. Matilde Maria Cremm provided housing for teachers who came from São Paulo. She also ensured that the children of her employees had access to education. This initial effort eventually led to the creation of a school group named São Leopoldo.

In 1966, Matilde Maria Cremm passed away. As a tribute to her contribution, the school group was renamed EEPG Matilde Maria Cremm in 1982. This change was made possible by Law 3.331. Later, in 1992, the school expanded to include the second grade. This expansion occurred through Resolution S.E 11 on January 24.

Today, Escola Estadual Matilde Maria Cremm continues to serve the community. It is located at Rua Sebastião Pereira da Silva, 35, in the Potuverá neighborhood. The school is surrounded by lush greenery. You can contact them at (11) 4147-1427 or via email at e009982a@educacao.sp.gov.br.

The school has modern facilities. These include labs, a kitchen, and sports equipment. There are 28 computers and one portable device available for students. The school also provides musical instruments.

The school also has a dedicated staff. Ailton Santos Valerio is the Coordinator. Indiano Rocha Pereira da Silva is the Principal. Rosangela Aparecida de Almeida Luz and Solange Jacob Vastella serve as Vice-Principals.

The state assesses the school’s performance using the IDEB and IDESP scores. In 2021, the state IDEB scores were: Initial Years 6.1, Final Years 5.3, and High School 4.4. The state IDESP scores for the same year were: Initial Years 4.47, Final Years 3.13, and High School 2.13.

Escola Estadual Matilde Maria Cremm is more than just a school. It represents the vision and dedication of Matilde Maria Cremm. Her commitment to education continues to inspire students and teachers alike. The school provides a safe and supportive learning environment. It prepares students for future success.
