Today Ermington has a thriving shopping centre. It’s a busy hub for local residents. The centre’s main street honours Betty Cuthbert. She was a celebrated Australian Olympic athlete. Cuthbert grew up in Ermington. She attended Ermington Public School. Timor Barracks is also in Ermington. It houses the 8th Command Support Regiment. Previously it housed the Eastern Region Command Signals Regiment.
The Subiaco Creek flows through Ermington. Parts of it are now underground. The creek starts near Timor Barracks and Lottie Stewart Hospital. It then flows through Cowells Lane Reserve. The creek surfaces again near the intersection of Stevens Street and Spurway Street. Ermington continues to evolve.
