Perhaps, lawyers focusing beyond national borders is something you find interesting. This is where the Eric E. Hotung International Law Building at Georgetown University Law Center comes in. Completed in 2004 this six-story building is the newest academic building on campus.
The Eric E. Hotung International Law Building strengthens the Law Center’s ability to prepare students. It helps them participate fully in the global legal community. Lawyers increasingly need to focus beyond national borders. The Eric E. Hotung International Law Building brings all major international programs together. This allows Georgetown to build on its academic excellence. It has already placed Georgetown at the vanguard of legal education.
Many important offices are located here in the Eric E. Hotung International Law Building. These include International and Graduate Programs and Law Alumni and Development. You’ll also find Public Relations and Continuing Legal Education here. Several student organizations also call this building home. The Supreme Court Moot Court Room and an Alumni Welcoming Center are on the second floor. International Law Faculty offices seminar rooms and classrooms are throughout the Eric E. Hotung International Law Building.
Let’s talk about career services. The Office of Career Services is on the 4th floor. Did you know 99% of law students have a job within 6 months of graduating? Career Strategy Advisors will help you create a unique career plan. It will be tailored to your specific needs and interests. Many workshops resources and recruitment programs support you. Each section is assigned a Career Counselor from OCS. They stay with you throughout your time at the Law Center. OCS also coordinates the fall On-Campus Interview Programs. Over 700 employers come to campus. These employers are from firms government and public interest options. They come to interview GULC students.
The Office of the Dean of Students is on the 3rd floor. This office oversees student life at the Law Center. ODOS provides academic and personal counseling. It supports students with disabilities. ODOS develops programs that complement the law school curriculum. They enhance the student experience. Students seeking academic assistance can receive free one-on-one private tutoring. The Office of the Dean of Students also oversees several centers and offices. These include the Center of Wellness Promotion and the Office of Equity and Inclusion. You’ll also find the Office of Disability Services the Office of Student Life and the Office of Residence Life.
Also on the 3rd floor is the Office of the Registrar. It oversees transcripts grades and other crucial functions. One crucial function is exam administration. The Office of the Registrar administers take-home examinations. They are the main point of contact for all VA Benefit inquiries.
The Supreme Court Institute Moot Courtroom is a centerpiece. The SCI Moot Court Program uses faculty and outside experts. It prepares counsel for oral arguments before the Court. SCI conducts moot courts for advocates. This happens in nearly every case on the Court’s argument docket. In the October Term of 2023 SCI hosted a moot court. This provided counsel in 100% of the cases argued before the Court. The Supreme Court Institute Moot Court room models the real Supreme Court. It includes the carpeting and the large clock above the bench. Georgetown Law students can register to attend a moot court. Many attend as part of a class.
The Eric E. Hotung International Law Building also houses the John Wolff International and Comparative Law Library. It’s named after John Wolff. He was a long-serving adjunct faculty member. He also supported the Law Center’s international law programs. This library is on two floors. It houses the international foreign and comparative law collections.
Named after Hong Kong businessman and philanthropist Eric Edward Hotung the building signifies Georgetown’s commitment to global legal education. The sleek steel and glass exterior offers a dramatic visual. It provides light-filled interiors. It complements the architectural style of the Law School campus. The Eric E.
