Established in 1957, Epping Boys High School stands proudly on Marsfield, in Sydney. It’s more than just bricks and mortar. It’s a place where boys become men, striving to achieve their full potential. The school’s motto, “Strive to Achieve,” resonates through every aspect of its history. Epping Boys High School began its journey with a unique twist. In its inaugural year, both boys and girls attended classes. However, the girls later transferred to the newly established Cheltenham Girls’ High School in 1958. A pole crafted by those first female students now stands as a testament to this shared history, displayed prominently near the assembly area. The school’s colors, green and gold, reflect the national colors of Australia, a symbolic choice. These colors adorn the school logo, student uniforms, and sports attire. The junior students’ ties feature gold stripes on green, while the seniors sport the school logo on a pure green background. The school isn’t just about academics. Epping Boys High School fosters a vibrant community, divided into four houses named after prominent figures in the Epping-Eastwood area: Darvall (Red), Harris (Yellow), Midson (Sky Blue), and Terry (Green). Epping Boys High School has a notable alumni list. Among them are Geoffrey Robertson, a QC and Rhodes Scholar, and Iva Davies, the musician and lead singer of Icehouse. From academics to athletics, Epping Boys High School excels. The school’s Wind Ensemble, for example, once travelled to Hawaii. They participated in the Pacific Basin Music Festival, earning a Gold Award and a spot in the Command Performance. This was a first for any Australian band participating in the festival. Epping Boys High School continues to shape young men into future leaders.
