Picture this a bustling congregation a vibrant community a spiritual home. This is Epping Baptist Church. Founded in 1933 it’s a cornerstone of Epping’s history. It all started with 17 people meeting in a home. They decided to form a separate church from Eastwood Baptist Church. Epping Baptist Church was officially inaugurated on March 29 1933. Twenty-six people became its foundation members with Pastor Frank Starr leading the way.
For years Epping Baptist Church faced challenges. The Great Depression hit hard. The church struggled financially. They even considered dissolving and rejoining Eastwood Baptist. But hope arrived in the form of the Home Mission Committee of the Baptist Union. This committee stepped in to provide crucial support. They not only encouraged the church to persevere but also helped purchase land. This land a corner block at Ray and Carlingford Road became the future home of Epping Baptist Church. The church bought the land in 1937 for just 300 pounds. This was a significant step forward.
Then came the construction of the building we see today. Opened in August 1938 it stands as a testament to faith and community resilience. The church has grown significantly since then. It’s now a place of worship for over 200 members. It serves as a spiritual home for people of all nations and generations.
