Emmanuel United Methodist Church boasts a rich history. It began humbly in 1893 as a small Sunday school in a schoolhouse. Only eight members started this congregation. They were incredibly dedicated. They raised funds to build their own church. Imagine their joy when the church was completed in 1894. A cornerstone was laid containing a Bible and an 1894 dime. The church’s journey wasn’t without its challenges. In 1927 lightning struck the tower causing a fire. The congregation rebuilt it demonstrating their resilience. They continued expanding their services. They dug out a room under the narthex for use as a kitchen. Later it housed organ pipes. In 1943 the current altar pulpit and lectern were built by the church’s pastor. Stained glass windows were also installed. The congregation’s growth led to further expansion. In 1956 they acquired eleven acres of land. This land now holds their parsonage and a nature trail. The church installed a seven-rank pipe organ in 1972 enhancing its worship services. In 1993 a new sanctuary classrooms a music room and a kitchen were added. In 1998 the parsonage was converted into church offices Sunday school and meeting rooms. In 2004 and 2009 significant expansion campaigns further modernized and expanded their facilities.
