“From Ghana to Washington D.C., the Emmanuel Church of Pentecost carries a vibrant story. Did you know it’s part of a global movement spanning over 151 countries?

Let’s step closer to understand its journey. The Emmanuel Church of Pentecost has roots tracing back to 1937. Rev. James McKeown an Irish missionary started his work in Ghana then known as the Gold Coast.

In 1953 it was founded as Gold Coast Apostolic Church. A pivotal moment arrived with Ghana’s independence in 1957. The name evolved to Ghana Apostolic Church. Political dynamics led to another name change in 1962. Dr. Kwame Nkrumah the then President of Ghana ruled that the church adopted a new name. Thus, the Church of Pentecost came into being.

The Emmanuel Church of Pentecost grew through missionary work. It built relationships with other Pentecostal churches. It blossomed into a worldwide movement. Imagine congregations in over 21802 local assemblies across 2898 districts.

By 2022 the Church of Pentecost boasted 4203077 members globally. That includes over 1307157 children. The church had 137862 officers and 2492 ministers in 101 nations. Its influence keeps expanding.

Leading this global family is Apostle Eric Nyamekye. He serves as the Chairman. He guides the Church of Pentecost from its headquarters in Accra Ghana. He was recently re-elected in May 2023 during the 46th General Council Meeting.

Here in the U.S.A., the Church of Pentecost has a strong presence. The Church of Pentecost U.S.A. is based in Wayne New Jersey. The James McKeown Worship Center is in Norcross Georgia. This center is part of the Atlanta Area.

The Norcross District includes other assemblies such as PIWC Norcross and Athens Assembly. You’ll also find PIWC Augusta. The Church of Pentecost in the U.S.A. includes 35703 members in 300 local assemblies. These are spread across 82 Districts and 13 Areas.

The Church of Pentecost emphasizes key values. These include the Word of God holiness prayer and evangelism. It aims to nurture a loving relationship with Jesus. It also fosters personal growth among its members. Members are encouraged to use their gifts for God’s glory.

The vision is clear to bring the world to Jesus Christ. The Emmanuel Church of Pentecost plays its part in this grand mission. It provides spiritual leadership. It empowers believers. It offers a sense of community.
