Its surgical waiting times are shorter than those at major hospitals like Tygerberg and Groote Schuur. The range of procedures is broad. It covers everything from cataract operations to advanced laparoscopic surgery even urology.
However Eerste River Hospital faces challenges. Its equipment is aging. Anaesthetic machines over 12 years old present risks. Leaks and makeshift monitors are common.
