Can you sense the energy radiating from this place? This is Edge Church. It’s more than just bricks and mortar. Edge Church is a testament to the power of faith and community. It stands here on Anton Anreith Avenue in Edgemead, a beacon of hope and love. Edge Church began its journey in 1975 with a small group of families who dreamed of making a difference. Their vision was to influence their community for the better. Eight years later, through sacrifice and dedication, they opened their first building. Then came a pivotal moment. The leadership heeded a call to expand their reach, sending a young couple, Pedro and Barbie Erasmus, on a mission to North-East Namibia. This act of faith laid the groundwork for the church’s future. Years later, in 1993, the Erasmus family returned to South Africa. They came back to Edgemead Assembly of God, which would later become the Edge Church we know today. Under their guidance, the church flourished. The leadership recognized the need to grow. They found inspiration in Isaiah 54, a message of love for God, sacrifice for others, and obedience to a higher calling. This message resonates deeply with Edge Church. From its humble beginnings, this church has been about connecting people with God and expressing His love through service and impacting future generations. Over time, Edge Church became more focused on nurturing love for God and one another. In September 2020, Daniel Erasmus took the helm as Lead Pastor, ushering in a new era. The church reaffirmed its mission: LOVE GOD. LOVE PEOPLE. CHANGE THE WORLD. Today, Edge Church stands as a vibrant testament to that mission. It’s a place where people from all walks of life are welcome to explore their faith, build relationships, and make a difference in the world.
