Whispers of faith echo through the years. Right here stands Dwelling Place Church a testament to unwavering devotion. This isn’t just a building. It’s a living narrative of three congregations merging in 2000. Imagine three distinct churches Dwelling Place Blue Ridge and Cornerstone. Their leaders united in prayer seeking God’s guidance. A miraculous merging it was. They shared a common vision reaching students with Christ’s love. They craved vibrant worship and the transformative power of God’s word. They yearned to nurture disciples ready to spread the gospel.

Initially Dwelling Place met in a Virginia Tech building. A small group of four families blossomed. Seventeen students joined their ranks. A Korean student group even emerged later branching into their own church. Through prayer the three founding couples discovered shared passions. They were ready to work together harmoniously. One intercessor saw a vision four streams converging into a mighty river. Each stream represented a church. The fourth stream remained a mystery.

The church moved to Gilbert Linkous Elementary School. The arts flourished. Painting music and dance found their expression within the walls of Dwelling Place. Home-based fellowships prayer groups and bible studies enriched the community. The burden of setting up and tearing down a portable church became heavy. They responded with faith raising $40000 in three months. They purchased sound equipment a truck a trailer and portable church cabinets.

Their journey continued to Blacksburg Middle School. The focus shifted toward artistic expression and emotional healing. Growth led them to search for their own building. They found the old Montgomery Newspaper Building perfectly situated between Christiansburg Blacksburg and Radford. This location would improve their visibility and offer ample space.

On October 12 2002 Dwelling Place Christian Fellowship incorporated. They gained 501c3 not-for-profit status. They acquired the building on North Franklin Street Christiansburg. They spent countless weekends transforming the space removing printing press remnants and creating a safe haven for children. Renovations continued into 2004 creating space for new generations.

Their growth continued. A rock climbing gym a surprising addition attracted community members. The church planted seeds of faith expanding its reach across the years. They launched internships and mission trips. They helped establish campus ministries and fostered lasting relationships within the body of Christ. The Dwelling Place Church evolved adapting to changing times while staying true to its core values. This church is more than a place of worship it’s a vibrant community that welcomes people from all walks of life.
