“Serving the less fortunate” That is a motto that resonates deeply within the Dunoon Masjid. We stand here before a place of worship. But this is more than just a building. It is a testament to community spirit.

The Dunoon Masjid is a beacon of hope. Its story intertwines with the efforts to uplift those around it.

Doors of Jannah is an organization closely linked to this masjid. They started with a simple idea. A few brothers from the community brainstormed ways to help the less fortunate in the Table View area. Their initial step was humble. They began serving food at the Dunoon Masjid once a month.

In 2017, they expanded their efforts. During Ramadan, they organized Iftaar programs every Saturday. With the grace of Allah, these programs were a great success. The Dunoon Masjid became a hub for feeding the community.

Doors of Jannah also collaborates with Masjid Nabewieyah in Dunoon. Together, they provide food once a month. Their support extends to Peace Home. This is a Muslim-based orphanage for abused and neglected children. They assist the housemother financially on a monthly basis.

Unemployed Muslim people and families also receive help. Zakaah monies are distributed to those in need. In 2019 and 2020, they sponsored a Hifz student monthly at the Islamic Centre of Table View.

The Dunoon Masjid and Doors of Jannah have future plans. They envision more projects to benefit the community. However, these plans depend on funding. They seek more permanent monthly sponsors to expand their reach.

During Ramadan, the Dunoon Masjid continues its Iftaar programs. Doors of Jannah also assists with repair work at Masjid Nabewieyah.

The Dunoon Masjid stands as a symbol. It represents the power of community. It shows what can be achieved through unity and compassion. It is a place where faith translates into action. It is a place where helping others is a way of life. Remember the story of the Dunoon Masjid. Think about the people who gather here. Consider their commitment to serving others. This place is more than bricks and mortar. It is a living example of faith in action.
