Established in 1972, Dunmore Lang College stands as a testament to the vision of its namesake, John Dunmore Lang. Dunmore Lang, the first Presbyterian clergyman in Sydney, arrived in Australia in 1823. He was a key figure in the early days of the college. The college, affiliated with Macquarie University, isn’t just a place of residence. It’s a thriving community of approximately 260 undergraduate and postgraduate students. Dunmore Lang College is located at 130-134 Herring Road in North Ryde. Originally intended as a women’s college, it evolved into a co-educational institution. This change reflects a broader societal shift towards inclusivity. Over the years, Dunmore Lang College has expanded. A new wing allows it to house more students. It also provides new conference facilities. The college offers both catered and self-catered rooms. Some rooms have ensuite bathrooms, while others share facilities. The college boasts a dedicated Chiropractic study room equipped with a Chiropractic bed. Beyond academics, Dunmore Lang College fosters a vibrant social scene. The student association, known as the ADS, organizes events throughout the year. These range from orientation week activities to the annual pre-Conception Day party. This celebration precedes Macquarie University’s Conception Day music festival. The festival commemorates the conception of Governor Macquarie. A friendly rivalry exists between Dunmore Lang College and its neighbor, Robert Menzies College. They compete annually in sports and debating. Dunmore Lang College is governed by a board of directors. The current Principal is Alasdair Murrie-West. Fourteen Resident Advisors provide around-the-clock pastoral care. Resident Tutors offer academic support to students.
