Wondering where over 800 students find a home away from home in Warsaw? That’s DS Babilon. We’re standing in front of it now.

DS Babilon is the second largest dormitory of the Warsaw University of Technology. It primarily houses students from the faculties of Administration, Architecture, Geodesy and Cartography. Students of Building Services, Hydro and Environmental Engineering and Civil Engineering also reside here.

Inside DS Babilon students live in segmental rooms. Most segments include a hall with a sink and fridge. Each segment also has a bathroom and two rooms. Room configurations vary. You might find single rooms, double rooms, or setups like 2+2, 3+0, 3+1, 3+2, or 3+3. The 2+2 configuration is most common. Single rooms are about 7 to 10 square meters. Double rooms span 12 to 15 square meters and three-person rooms are around 20 square meters.

Each floor has three kitchens. These are located in risers x12K, x35K, and x49K near the staircases. The x12K and x49K kitchens each have three cookers. Kitchen x35K has two. The cookers are either electric or gas. Electric ovens are available too. Each kitchen includes a cupboard with a sink, trash cans and a countertop for food preparation. All kitchens are monitored for safety.

Bathrooms are within each segment. One bathroom serves one to six people. This depends on the segment type.

Need to do laundry? Head to the first floor near the main elevators. You will find washing machines and dryers. Laundry costs 5 PLN. Drying costs 4 PLN. Payment is accepted in cash or by bank transfer. Many residents hang their clothes to dry in their rooms or in the corridors.

DS Babilon offers several common rooms. These include a TV room, a billiard room, and a games room. There is also a banquet room and a ping-pong table. Contact the supervisors to book a room. A deposit of 400 PLN is required for the banquet room. A silent learning room is available on the first floor. The key can be obtained from the reception.

Residents can store belongings in the storage room in the basement. There is also a bike room and parking available. Parking and bike actions are organized at the beginning of the academic year. Spaces become available as needed.

Guests are welcome at DS Babilon. Residents can have up to five guests during the day and one overnight. To receive a guest, the resident must meet them at the reception. The resident leaves their resident card at the reception. The guest receives a visitor card. When the guest leaves, the cards are exchanged.

DS Babilon provides an easy commute to the main campus. It takes about 15 minutes by tram or bus.

DS Babilon is more than just a dormitory. It is a community where students live study and create memories. As you continue your exploration of Warsaw remember the vibrant student life within these walls.
