Drewry isn’t your typical high school churning out college-bound students. It’s a small, specialized vocational school dedicated to providing personalized academic and life skills programs. Drewry Secondary School focuses on creating a safe, nurturing environment. The school caters to students with special needs, recognizing and addressing their unique learning requirements. Drewry Secondary School originally opened its doors in 1966 as Lewis S. Beattie Vocational School. It resided at 110 Drewry Avenue. In 1989, the school transitioned to its current location, the former Drewry Elementary School. The original site became É́cole secondaire catholique Monseigneur-de-Charbonnel. The name change to Drewry Secondary School also occurred in 1989. This marked a shift in identity and focus. The school’s motto, “Respect Yourself, Respect Others, Take Responsibility,” reflects its commitment to fostering a positive and inclusive community. Drewry collaborates with various community partners. These include the Griffin Centre, Surrey Place, Community Living Toronto, and others. These partnerships ensure that students receive comprehensive support both within the school walls and in their broader lives. Drewry Secondary School’s small class sizes allow for individual attention and extensive classroom support. This personalized approach ensures that each student receives the guidance they need to thrive. While Drewry doesn’t grant traditional credits, students graduate with a Certificate of Accomplishment.
