Unrelenting speed and loops. These are just some of Dragon Fyre’s tricks. This legendary creature has been instilling joy into its passengers for decades. We are standing at the foot of Dragon Fyre. It is a steel roller coaster at Canada’s Wonderland.

Dragon Fyre debuted with the park in 1981. However, it was manufactured in 1980. For a time it was respelled Dragon Fire from 1997 to 2018. The name quietly reverted to Dragon Fyre in 2019. It was one of Canada’s Wonderland’s original four coasters.

Look to the east end of the park. That is the Medieval Faire section. Dragon Fyre sits adjacent to the parking lot. So it is one of the first coasters you see upon arrival. The track features green and yellow. Purple support poles hold it aloft.

After the removal of Drachen Fire from Busch Gardens Williamsburg. Dragon Fyre became unique. It is the only Arrow Dynamics coaster with counterclockwise-turning corkscrews.

Originally, Dragon Fyre was designed for three trains. Evidence of this is the set of safety brakes. They sit following the corkscrews and before the helix. However, the ride’s short duration created a challenge. It was difficult for staff to load a train. This was without stopping another train mid-ride. Dragon Fyre never used its third train because of this. In 1987, the third train became The Bat.

Let’s imagine the ride. The track makes a left turn out of the station. It then climbs the 23.8 meters lift hill. This leads to a quick drop of 23.2 meters. The track levels out briefly. It then passes through back to back vertical loops. It crosses under Leviathan’s brake run. The track makes a left turn after the loops. It passes a backstage area. Then it enters a counter-clockwise double corkscrew. This crosses back under Leviathan. A set of safety brakes follows. Finally, an upward clockwise helix ends the ride.

Dragon Fyre has several ride elements. These include a double loop and a double corkscrew. Riders also enjoy an upward helix.

Many people experienced their first loops on this beast. More will continue to do so in the future. Families still enjoy the nostalgia of training this dragon. This is one of the original coasters at Canada’s Wonderland.

Remember to buckle in securely. Enjoy the climb up 78 feet. Feel the speed of 50 kilometers per hour. Experience the four inversions. These include two loops and a corkscrew. Dragon Fyre is more than just a ride. It’s a legendary experience etched in the park’s history. So, are you brave enough to slay this Dragon Fyre?
