Dominion High School

Opened in 2003, Dominion High School stands proudly in Sterling, Virginia. It absorbed students from Potomac Falls High School and Park View High School, becoming a new home for the youth of Sugarland Run and Lowes Island. Dominion High School is more than just bricks and mortar. It’s a melting pot of cultures and backgrounds. In the 2022-2023 school year, its student body was a vibrant mix of 39% Hispanic, 36% White, 15% Asian, 6% Black, and 4% other ethnicities. Dominion High School isn’t just about academics. It’s a place where champions are forged. In 2014, the Titans girls’ soccer team clinched the AAAA state championship. Just two years later, the boys’ lacrosse team followed suit, bringing home their own state title. The spring of 2021 was a particularly triumphant season, with the Titans securing three class 4 state championships. Beyond the playing fields, Dominion High School nurtures creativity and expression. In 2009, the school joined the Cappies Awards Program, showcasing the talents of its students in the performing arts. The school’s official news organization, DHS Press, even partnered with PBS Student Reporting Labs in 2017. This collaboration led to two Dominion High School students being recognized on PBS’s “list of 20 up-and-coming journalists” in 2021. Dominion High School has also fostered some remarkable alumni. Lauryn Hutchinson, a former student, went on to play football for the Trinidad and Tobago women’s national football team and attended Virginia Commonwealth University. Meggie Meidlinger, a member of the class of 2006, made a name for herself as a women’s national baseball player. Paul Troth, another alumnus, excelled as a quarterback at East Carolina and later became a coach at John Champe High School. Dominion High School is a place where students aren’t just taught, they’re inspired. They’re challenged to grow, to achieve, and to become the best versions of themselves.
