Dom Sztuki began its journey in 2021, initially operating as an informal, grassroots initiative. In 2023, the initiative took a significant step forward by formalizing its structure as a foundation. This transition allowed for greater professionalism and sustainability while still retaining the collective spirit. They still consider themselves a team, a group working together towards a shared vision.
Dom Sztuki’s activities extend beyond the traditional confines of an arts center. It is a place where people live, cultivate a shared garden, and organize a variety of events. These include workshops, film screenings, and community gatherings. The foundation’s commitment to Grochów’s unique heritage is evident in projects like “Grochów Closer”. This series of events explored the city and its relationship to climate. Their “KIBBUTZ” project delves into the history of Grochów’s kibbutz, earning them recognition in the S3KTOR competition. In 2023, they opened a community library for book exchanges and hosted the “Cinema Madness” summer film series. These events highlight their dynamic approach to community engagement.
