In November 1996, a small group of believers gathered at the Kelson Community Centre. This marked the humble beginning of Discovery Elim Christian Centre. It wasn’t known by that name then. It was called Kelson Christian Centre. As the congregation grew, they moved to Kelson Primary School. They dreamt of a place of their own. The dream took shape on February 11, 2007. The first service was held in their new, purpose-built facility on Major Drive. With the new building came a new name: Discovery Christian Centre. The church continued to evolve. In 2011, it became part of the Elim movement. On May 1st, Discovery Elim Christian Centre held its first service under its final name. The church is more than just a building. It’s a community focused on “Discovering God, Empowering People”. The team at Discovery Elim is dedicated to helping people find their purpose. They believe everyone has a unique path laid out by God. They are committed to helping people discover that path. The center even has an adjoining Early Learning Centre. This opened in April 2007, shortly after the main church building. It’s a testament to Discovery Elim’s commitment to nurturing the community from a young age.
