“Home church” is what they hope to be here. Welcome to Discovery Bay International Community Church. This church serves English-speaking people. They live in Discovery Bay and greater Lantau Island. The Discovery Bay International Community Church is associated with the Evangelical Free Church of China. This association helps local churches serve Jesus Christ in Hong Kong. As an EFCC church, Discovery Bay International Community Church practices Protestant faith.
Discovery Bay International Community Church emphasizes services for children and youth. Caregivers are available in the nursery. They look after the youngest attendees. There are also groups for older children. Jr Kids serves children aged 2.5 to 5 years. Sr Kids is for those aged 6 to 10. Xtreme Teens Study is for 11 to 14 year olds. Souled Out is for those aged 14 to 18 years. All these groups meet when the adult worship service takes place. The services are held every Sunday at 10 am. You can find them in the auditorium of Discovery College. It is on the main floor.
Discovery Bay International Community Church has a clear mission. It is a community church established on God’s Word. The members are enabled through prayer. They are empowered by the Spirit. The goal is to make disciples of all nations. The church has a charter that guides its operations.
The Evangelical Free Church of China has a rich history. It was first planted in China in 1887. Missionaries came from the Evangelical Free Church of America. After the Second World War, the base moved to Hong Kong.
EFCC-IC founded Discovery Bay International Community Church in 1991. This happened through the vision of the Evangelical Free Church of China – Tai Koo Shing Church. Pastor Charles Crabtree was the first pastor. He was an American missionary.
In 1996 Discovery Bay International Community Church became an independent member of EFCC. The church aims to worship and honor Jesus Christ above all. So come inside and feel the warmth of faith and community.
