“Water or words?” a passerby chuckles, glancing at Der Erzähler. You might wonder about that comment. This fountain, Der Erzähler, has a story to tell, literally. Sculpted by Otto Münch and unveiled in 1933, Der Erzähler is more than just a source of refreshment. It’s a tribute to Swiss writer, Meinrad Lienert. Notice the bronze figure, perched on a rough-hewn pedestal? That’s Lienert, a master storyteller who wove tales of Swiss history and folklore. His words flowed as freely as the water from the fountain.
